Studying Japanese Embroidery
Learning to stitch
All Japanese embroidery students are taught the traditional Japanese techniques to the highest standards up to Phase 10 and on upwards if desired. The students are encouraged to stitch traditional designs, but are also encouraged to use flexibility and creativity in their choice of stitches and colours once they have mastered the traditional techniques to the highest standard.
The students who qualify as teachers go on to work all over the UK as well as in Europe. They are keeping alive a wonderful textile inheritance, hand embroidery skills of the highest level useful in many areas of textile art while creating the heirlooms of the future.
